"We are dedicated to supporting the communities where we live, work and conduct business. Through our employees and the MRC Global Foundation we are able to give back to communities around the globe." Andrew Lane, MRC Global Chairman, President & CEO
As part of our commitment to one of our core values - community involvement- we organized the Foundation. We set up this Foundation for the purpose of making donations in our communities for charitable causes, including education, health and human services, arts and humanities and civic projects.
2019 Give Back Program
In Q4 2019, we launched a community involvement initiative nationwide to pull together our efforts and give back to local communities. The Give Back Program was launched to encourage each MRC Global US branch to identify a cause that mattered to them and then take action during the holiday season.
Approximately 120 branch locations were involved in the project and made substantial contributions to their local communities.
STEM Goes Red
In 2019, Vice President of Financial Reporting & Analysis, Cinda Bowling, and Director of Inventory Logistics, Jessica Vance, joined forces with the American Heart Association to share information about careers in forensic accounting and safety for middle school girls. Their STEM Goes Red event, held in Kanawha County, WV, aims to increase gender diversity in STEM related fields.
Run for the Cure
MRC Global employees across Alberta joined together to participate in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure simultaneously in their communities. Employees fundraised to support the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of breast cancer, which continues to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women.
Singapore Coastal Cleanup
As a leader in the PVF industry, we recognize the need to continue our commitment to acting in an environmentally responsible manner and continually improving our environmental performance. In May 2019, the MRC Global Singapore team dedicated a day to picking-up debris and other litter in a community-wide movement to keep their city beautiful and clean.
