Demand for high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) and fiberglass has been on the rise since the beginning of 2021. Severe weather in Q1 2021 caused plants to shut down, which disrupted HDPE resin supply and forced an increase in pricing. This trend is expected to continue until plants are back online. An increase in fiberglass pricing was announced early in 2021 and took effect in March.

Current lead times for HDPE small diameter pipe are 2 to 3 weeks. Lead times for HDPE larger than 8" are running between 4 to 6 weeks and fiberglass lead times are twice as long at 8 to 12 weeks. Personal protective equipment (PPE) manufacturers continue to supply the healthcare sector, resulting in delayed lead times for non-healthcare orders. However, we continue to see improvement for impacted materials, including masks, face shields, sanitizers and disinfectant products.
