MRC Global Norway AS, Instrumentation Division has offered and conducted training courses on the Norwegian continental shelf since the mid-1980's. We offer comprehensive courses and training programs both at our modern training facilities and at our customers location.

Safety during installation and use of instrumentation and process systems are very important. The consequence of improper handling and installation can be very serious. Education and information is essential to avoid damage to both people and equipment. That's why Instrumentation Division offer training programs and courses that can be held continuously for personnel circulating on instrument and process plants.

MRC Global Norway AS, Instrumentation Division is officially approved to execute training courses in accordance with the norwegian NOG and NORSOK guidelines on various training programs.

Training Facilities

Our training center in Stavanger is equipped with the newest technology to provide flexibility and quality in our training courses.

We have a strong focus on the wellbeing of our guests and course participants, a good training environment, air quality and modern equipment. We also offer lunch in our modern canteen.

Industry Requirements

NOG - Qualification Certification (NOG guideline 120)

All who will lead or do independent work (performing professional) of tubing systems and associated fittings shall have completed an NOG approved training and passed the NOG test. If work is to be done on fittings and tubing systems of types other than Swagelok, Gyrolok and Parker / A-Lok, one is also required to have an approved training by the product provider.

At higher pressures where there will be used high-pressure fittings of types such as Autoclave, BuTech, HIP or similar, one is also required to have an approved training by the provider for the high-pressure fittings to be used.

Duration of NOG certification

Duration of certification is four years. The certificate holder must complete the NOG re-certification course (e-learning) with a test every four years to maintain certification within Tubing systems and associated fittings.

NORSOK standard I-001

The specific requirement of NORSOK standard I-001 reads as follows:

«5.7.4 Qualification The installation shall be carried out by skilled personnel certified According to NOG requirements.»

NOG 120

The duration of the course is estimated to last 2 day (approximately 09:00 to 16:00).

Day 1

Welcome and introduction

  • Theory: Tube Fitting

Lunch

  • Practical training: Screw fittings • Demonstration of hydraulic tools • Pre-assembling
  • Theory: Fittings materials • Bleeding of pressurized systems
  • Theory: Thread • NPT, BSPP • Loctite • Thread seal tape

End of the first day

Day 2

Start of the session: Coffee and short repetition from the day before

  • Theory: Tubing
  • Theory: Tube Bending Pliers
  • Practical training: Exercise with Tube Bending Pliers
  • Lunch

    • Practical training: Construct a model • Pressure testing/«burst test»
    • Final test and exam: NOG Interactive Exam

High Pressure Fittings

MRC Global Norway AS, Instrumentation Division is officially approved to execute training courses in accordance with OLF guidelines on various training programs.

We offer comprehensive courses and training programs both at our modern training facilities and out with our customers on location.

The duration of the course is estimated to last 1 day (approximately 09:00 to 15:00).

Lunch

  • Workshop and Practical Training: Demonstration of coning / threading • Training with coning and threads • Tightening with a torque wrench

Recertification for NOG 120

MRC Global Norway AS, Instrumentation Division offers recertification courses, tests and examination in modern, spacious and quiet surroundings.

Candidates who hold a valid certificate for the NOG 120, get a new certificate by completing the NOG recertification course and pass the exam. Our recertification course will be based on e-learning. The examination and the validity of the new obtained certificate will be the same as for those following the full basic course. If the recertification exam is not passed, the complete basic NOG 120 course must be repeated and examinations must be passed to obtain a new certificate once again.

The duration of the e-learning recertification course is estimated to last 3 hours. Both the course and the examination must be held in an operator-controlled facility (offshore or onshore), or by an operator-accepted course provider where the identity of the candidate is checked against official government issued identification papers (driver's license, passport, etc.).
